Bruno Despas Appointed Vice-President of Laboratory Services at Global Vision /
CitéLab
Mathieu Lefebvre, President of Global Vision/CitéLab, was pleased to announce
the appointment of Bruno Despas to the position of Vice-President
of Laboratory Services.
The Global Vision/CitéLab film laboratory required someone with world-class
expertise, now that it is offering clients film-finishing services and 35mm
release printing in addition to negative development and 2K/4K finishing (ARRI
SCAN, ARRI LASER and big-screen color correction). Originally trained as a
chemical engineer, Bruno Despas began his career at the prestigious and
world-renowned Laboratoire Éclair in Paris, where, over a 12-year period, he
occupied the position of Technical Director followed by Operations Manager. He
most recently held the position of General Director at Centrimage in Paris,
where in addition to managing operations in the traditional laboratory, he
developed a research-and-development unit for digital-restoration and
audiovisual-archive tools. During his time at Centrimage, he supervised the
restoration of classic films, including Fritz Lang's masterpiece Metropolis,
a project carried out in partnership with Germany. He also oversaw the creation
of the first Parisian telefilm postproduction unit to use non-linear editing.
Bruno accepted the invitation to join the management team at Global
Vision/CitéLab as a result of the many unique challenges associated with the
range of services offered at the laboratory. His responsibilities will include
managing and developing the integrated 2K/4K and traditional film
postproduction chain, 35mm release printing and chemical restoration.
In addition to developing a world-renowned reputation, Bruno fulfilled his
duties as President of the Technical Committee of the Fédération des industries
techniques du cinéma et de l'audiovisuel de France. He has also been a member
of the Society of Motion Picture and TV Engineers, the International Federation
of Film Archives, the Groupe Européen Archives / Laboratoire (GAMMA) and the
Federation of Cinema, Audiovisual and Multimedia Industries.
Mr. Paul Gagnon, who is already well known in our industry, will now be able to
fully dedicate himself to managing client services at the laboratory.
